Dreambert and Bedsmith, two beings of the Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves lost and confused in a strange house in an unfamiliar city. As panic sets in, a peculiar man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He suggests that they may have died while watching television the night before, but before he can explain any further, the situation gets even stranger. A being of the Star Sprite species named Starlo arrives, insisting that she is their friend. She claims they planned to hang out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of her or any such plans. Reluctantly, they follow Starlo outside, unsure of their surroundings. They wander through the city, acting as if they do not recognize the environment or Starlo. Despite their confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they were longtime friends. As she shows them around, Starlow patiently explains their friendship and their names, trying to reassure them. Dreambert and Bedsmith, however, fail to make sense of their past or their relationship with Starlow, and are estranged. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned, initially thinking they are pretending to be forgetful. But as their unusual behavior continues, she becomes concerned that something serious has gone wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens, and she wonders if there is something more behind their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house where they first woke up, and Wonky—still claiming to be their father—gives them a bed that feels unfamiliar. Too exhausted and confused to protest, they spent the night. When they fall asleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identity, their past, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. As they drift off into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds, the mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered.
